Severna Park High School received high marks in a national survey of the best high schools by US News.
The school placed 213th nationally and eighth in Maryland in US News' report. Schools were graded by their student to teacher ratio, how well students are prepared for college, and both the math and student proficiency in subjects such as Algebra and English.
- Student to teacher ratio—19:1 (1,921 students to 102 teachers)
- College readiness—59.4 (74 percent tested by AP; 55 percent passed)
- Algebra proficiency—3.7 (99 percent proficient; 1 percent not)
- English proficiency—3.5 (96 percent proficient; 4 percent not)

Last week, Patch reported that Severna Park High received the second-highest marks of Anne Arundel County Public Schools in a Washington Post ranking of schools across the country. In its ranking of schools in Maryland, Severna Park ranked 13th.
