Starting Feb. 1, Kohl’s will begin accepting nominations of outstanding youth volunteers for its Kohl’s Care Scholarship Program.

According to an announcement, The Kohl’s Cares Scholarship Program is part of Kohl’s Cares, a philanthropic program that rewards kids for charitable work. Since the program began in 2001, Kohl’s has recognized more than 17,000 kids with more than $3.4 million in scholarships and prizes.

Nominations for kids ages 6 to 18 will be accepted Feb. 1 through March 15 at kohlskids.com. Nominators must be 21 years or older.

For the past two years, a Pasadena youth has been recognized by the scholarship program. In 2012, Casey Lowry received a $50 gift card and a recognition certificate from Kohl’s in honor of the work she had done with Kami's Jammies. The program provides new sleepwear and themed pajama parties to pediatric patients in local hospitals.

In 2011, Lowry won a $1,000 scholarship through the Kohl's Cares program.

Kohl's will award the following awards:

  • Two nominees from each of the more than 1,100 Kohl’s stores nationwide will win a $50 Kohl’s gift card.
  • More than 200 of the store winners will win regional scholarships worth $1,000 toward post-secondary education.
  • Ten national winners will be awarded a total of $10,000 in scholarships for post-secondary education, and Kohl’s will donate $1,000 to a nonprofit organization on each national winner’s behalf.
